At Riverside Bridge School, we are committed to keeping parents and carers fully informed about their child's progress, development and wellbeing.

We recognise that every pupil's journey is unique. For many of our pupils, progress may be seen through improved communication, greater independence, increased confidence, stronger engagement and personal development, as well as academic achievement.

Our reporting systems are designed to provide a meaningful picture of the whole child and celebrate progress from each pupil's individual starting point.

Regular opportunities to meet

Parents and carers are invited to attend two formal parents' evenings each year, held during the autumn and spring terms.

These meetings provide an opportunity to:

  • discuss progress towards individual targets;
  • understand strengths and areas for development;
  • explore any barriers to learning;
  • discuss strategies and support in place;
  • ask questions and share information.

These conversations are an important part of our partnership with families and help ensure that support remains consistent between home and school.

Annual Review and EHCP reporting

All pupils at Riverside Bridge School have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Progress towards EHCP outcomes is reviewed formally through the annual review process. Parents and carers are invited to contribute fully and take part in discussions about their child's development, achievements and future aspirations.

These reviews bring together families, school staff and, where appropriate, external professionals to ensure that support remains personalised, effective and focused on long-term outcomes.

End of Year Report

Parents and carers receive a written end of year report during the summer term.

This report provides a detailed overview of:

  • progress across areas of development,
  • achievements throughout the year,
  • next steps for learning,
  • personal development and well-being,
  • communication, independence and engagement.

Reports are designed to provide a clear and meaningful picture of each pupil's individual journey and celebrate the progress they have made.

Ongoing communication

In addition to formal reporting, families receive regular updates throughout the year through communication with class teams and the school's communication platforms.

This ensures that parents and carers are kept informed about learning, achievements and important information throughout the year, rather than only at formal reporting points.

A Personalised approach

Assessment and reporting at Riverside Bridge School are highly individualised.

Staff use ongoing assessment to understand each pupil's progress and plan appropriate next steps. This includes recognising small but significant steps of development and celebrating achievements in ways that are meaningful for each pupil.

For many pupils, progress may be seen through increased participation, improved communication, greater independence or growing confidence in new situations.

Celebrating progress

Throughout the year, pupils' achievements are recognised and celebrated through classroom rewards, assemblies, certificates, events and communication with families.

We believe that recognising success helps build confidence, motivation and self-esteem. Celebrating achievements also helps families understand and appreciate the progress their child is making across all areas of development.

Working together

We believe that effective reporting is built on strong relationships between home and school.

By sharing information openly and regularly, we aim to ensure that parents and carers feel confident, informed and fully involved in their child's education.

Together, we can support every pupil to achieve their potential and continue developing the skills they need for life both in school and beyond.
